Field Research

The Design and Usability Center (DUC) regularly goes into the field to gain a deeper understanding of how users are interacting with products in their natural environment. Field research allows us the opportunity to gather user requirements, identify unmet needs, and capture points of frustration. Field testing is also a major driver in design innovation. Also, we conduct studies in the field when users cannot easily come to us, or when observing their use of the product int he natural environment is critical. 

Capturing the User Experience in Context

Armed with digital video, still camera, or audio recording devices, we can bring your target users’ environment and context of use directly to your whole team. These provide you with real world insights into where your product is used.

On-site Usability Testing

With our screen-capturing software and webcams, we conduct usability tests right in the user’s natural environment, be it their home or their office. Depending on environments and network access, your live viewing options may be limited, but recordings are available for later viewing.
